Having written a blog post doesn't mean we have to forget about that article. Of course, there are comments we have to respond to and this usually keeps the post “active” for a few days, when it then goes into oblivion and exists as a blog archive. This, at least, is what happens on my blog: posts are generally commented on the same day they are published, with some new comments arriving a day or 2 later. Less often comments arrive after several days and rarely, but not too often, do they arrive on posts published for months, if not even years. Little by little, I introduced another job into the management of my blog: checking the quality and efficiency of the published posts . And by quality and efficiency I mean a meticulous check to be done with a certain periodicity, certainly not once a week. Here are the 8 checks I do on my posts after they are published.
Analyze the relevance of the post There are some articles that are always valid, such as evergreen posts , i.e. articles that do not have an expiration date, like classic news, for example. However, even those Special Data posts are subject to "deterioration", to age. This is why I talked about the relevance of the post : because over time a blogger acquires other notions, but above all the topic of the post can expand, and the post itself become less relevant, that is, take on less importance. The blog itself has expanded and developed the theme of that post, publishing related articles. Not only that: the blogger may have changed his mind in the meantime, which happens. At that point what to do? How to update the published post? Consider an in-depth post I am against making heavy changes to already published articles, for a number of reasons.
In my opinion it is better to rewrite those posts , giving them new life, with more updated information. In some cases, however, an old article gives us the opportunity to delve deeper into it, perhaps writing others that revolve around it. Change the title tag if necessary I won't bother explaining again what the title is and what the post title is. I've talked about it other times, most recently when I wrote about SEO applied to blogging . Post title and title tag are two different things and should be written in two different ways. For me, the title of the post must be conversational, while the title tag must point to web marketing. A few times I changed the title of my old posts, giving more space to the main keywords . Add a description I also said that I almost never write the description of my posts, except in rare cases. One of these is when I try to improve published posts.
